Most post-secondary training and education costs money. Financial aid such as grants, scholarships, and student loans can help you obtain the necessary credentials for your future career.


Common Types of Financial Aid

  • Grant – a type of financial aid given as a gift that does not have to be repaid, usually based on need or affiliation with certain groups like military veterans.
  • Scholarship – a type of financial aid awarded based on academic, athletic, or community achievement that does not have to be repaid unless student withdraws from courses.
  • Student Loan – money borrowed from the US government at a fixed interest rate that must be paid back after graduation unless student qualifies for loan forgiveness.
  • Work Study – jobs available to students demonstrating financial need through colleges and universities to help offset education expenses.
  • Paid Internship / Apprenticeship – learning a trade or vocation through paid, on job experience.
